Malcolm has had one of those “story book” childhoods. He was a sports star, played music, and painted. But his defining moment came when his family moved to India during his formative teenage school years. His journey began with a three month stint on a Greek freighter which sailed from New York going around the tip of Africa, stopping along the way at various ports. His family then left the ship to wait for their visas in Saudi Arabia before finally arriving in Northern India This would be “home base” for the next three years.
Various trips to the surrounding countries of Asia filled those three years, highlighted by a trek to base camp of Mount Everest at sixteen years of age. It was at this point in his life that Malcolm became intrigued with the “lifestyle” of various cultures and felt an obligation to paint what was so beautifully presented to him on every level.
His experiences through out the next portion of his life were abundant Five weeks in Australia as the commissioned artist for the Olympics, and time spent in the Caribbean with Dive Travel Magazine painting the beauty above and below the water, highlighted this prolific time period.
Living in Colorado brought an interest in the Native American culture and their stewardship for the planet. Living “out west” also brought daily inspiration from the “cowboy” way of life. With his bright color palette and contemporary design, Malcolm has transformed this body of imagery into a series that is been highly sought after in the gallery market.
Wherever his travels take him, Malcolm has always found intrigue. A drive to record what he sees in his own signature style, has made his paintings highly collectable through out the world.
